District office Mitte
About this assembly
The District Advisory Council for Participation and Integration, formerly the Migration Advisory Council, was reconstituted in May 2022 for the 2022-2026 legislative period.
1. General information
In 2022, the Berlin Act on the Promotion of Participation in the Migration Society (PartMigG) enabled the former Migration Advisory Council to be continued as the District Advisory Council for Participation and Integration Mitte. It was reconstituted in May for the 2022-2026 legislative period. The District Advisory Councilfor Participation and Integration is an independent and non-partisan body that represents the interests of different population groups regardless of characteristics such as origin, religion, gender or sexual orientation, residence status and/or nationality.
2. Functions and tasks
As an independent and non-partisan body, the Advisory Council advises the Mitte District Office and the borough assembly Mitte (BVV) on issues relating to migrants and their descendants. In addition, the district advisory council draws up statements on planned measures and projects of the district office, which can influence the actions of the district administration.
The district advisory council enables migrants in the Mitte district to be involved in the administration and politics of the district with their perspectives, interests and demands. The aim is to promote and enforce equal participation in the Mitte district.
3. Mode of operation
The District Advisory Council operates for the duration of the electoral term of the borough assembly (BVV) from 2022 to 2026. It meets once a month and works in thematic working groups. The members of the district advisory council work on a voluntary basis and are compensated with an attendance fee of €20 per meeting.
The meetings usually take place monthly on the first Wednesday (17:30-19:00) in Tiergarten Town Hall, Mathilde Jacob-Platz 1, 10551 Berlin. If you would like to attend an advisory council meeting as a guest, please contact the office, Mrs Yavuz, in advance. You can find her e-mail address under Contact Information.
4. Members and composition
The advisory council consists of a maximum of 20 members with voting rights. The District Advisory Council consists of representatives of migrants and their descendants as well as representatives who, due to their knowledge, work or commitment to issues of participation, integration and equal participation of migrants, can make a significant contribution to the work of the Advisory Council. These include 12 members from institutions/associations and 8 individuals.
Non-voting members (guests), such as representatives of the police, the integration office and the parliamentary groups of the borough assembly (BVV), may also attend the meeting. The district mayor also attends the meetings of the district advisory council.
